Voilà Les Héroïnes (a.k.a VLH) has created a line of Italian made silk scarves designed as flags to be worn proudly by those who are turning life’s difficult and dark moments into something beautiful.
The idea was born in the intensive care unit following the first brain surgery of VLH founder Danielle when she was 16 years old. She found joy, laughter and strength in wrapping vintage scarves over her shaved and scarred head and wanted to bring this spirit to the world.
Our wearable flags are a fashion and human statement. They give people of all genders and backgrounds a poetic way to rebel, shout, and find power through their struggles.
They are a reminder that we are all beautiful. And mostly when we are beautifully defiant!

A non-for-profit organization and digital platform for people battling life’s existential issues to create their own scarves/flags to wear as armor (or fly as their flags!), give to their loved ones, or sell and raise funds for their own causes, etc..

Italy’s silk industry began as early as the 12th century in the cities of Lucca, Venice, Florence and Genoa. The Italian silk industry is today renowned for its fair practices, and a responsible agro-industrial model for the production of raw silk. Italy also plays a leading role in developing innovative silk-based fabrics as well as cutting edge technologies for a more conscious silk production.
Our flags are made of some of the very best silks, woven by artisans in Como, Italy, home to the scarf production of the world’s most iconic luxury and fashion brands.
